Scar Revision

Scars from accidents, surgery, burns, mole removal, and other causes
require different treatment approaches based on their origin, location, depth, and skin condition.

Stages of Scar Formation

1. Hemostasis Phase

Wound occurs with bleeding and
initial inflammatory response
2. Inflammatory Phase

Swelling and discharge occur
with inflammatory reaction
3. Proliferative Phase

Redness appears as new blood vessels
and tissue are formed
4. Remodeling Phase

Tissue hardens and
transforms into scar formation

Scar revision surgery typically begins after the remodeling phase when scar tissue has stabilized.
Usually possible 1-2 months after scar formation, depending on the condition.

W-plasty

The scar is incised in a W-shape to
soften the borders and blend naturally
with the skin's wrinkle lines.
Skin Graft / Flap Surgery

After removing wide or deep scars, skin or
flaps are transplanted for restoration.
