About
Technology
보유 장비The devices at SNU Plastic Surgery Clinic are chosen for what they can do for a particular face, and used only where they earn their place in the plan.

Technology with purpose
Technology alone does not create a good result.
The clinic selects clinically proven technologies and uses them to treat each patient's specific concern, rather than applying one device to every face. Where it helps, different technologies are combined, with the aim of results that are safer, more natural and longer lasting than a single treatment tends to give.
Before the devices come the physician's experience, an accurate diagnosis and a proper treatment plan. Those are what make the difference. The equipment is here to complement that judgment, not to replace it.
Non-surgical treatment follows the same principles as surgery at this clinic. It starts from anatomy, it works in small and precise increments, and it leaves alone what does not need changing.

Energy-based lifting
Ultrasound, radiofrequency and microwave energy delivered beneath the surface to tighten and lift. These devices underpin the programs described under Skin Tightening & Lifting.
| Device | What it does | Treatment time | Downtime | Suited for | Often combined with |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ultherapy PRIME | Micro-focused ultrasound with visualization, FDA-cleared to lift the brow, the skin under the chin and on the neck, and to improve lines and wrinkles on the décolleté. | 60–90 min | Minimal | Brow lift, under the chin, neck, décolleté lines | Thermage FLX, SofWave |
| Thermage FLX | Monopolar radiofrequency system, FDA-cleared for the non-invasive treatment of periorbital wrinkles and rhytids, including the upper and lower eyelids. | 60–90 min | Minimal | Periorbital wrinkles, upper and lower eyelids, facial wrinkles, neck | Ultherapy PRIME, SofWave |
| SofWave | Synchronous ultrasound parallel beam (SUPERB™) technology, FDA-cleared to lift the brow, submental area and neck, and to improve the appearance of facial fine lines and wrinkles. | 30–45 min | Minimal | Brow lift, submental area, neck, facial fine lines and wrinkles | Thermage FLX, Ultherapy PRIME |
| ONDA Coolwave | Coolwaves® microwave technology that selectively heats subcutaneous fat for localized fat reduction and skin tightening. | 20–40 min | Minimal | Localized fat, double chin, skin laxity, body contouring | Ultherapy PRIME, Thermage FLX |
Pigmentation and tone correction
Light and laser energy directed at pigment and vascular structures. See Pigmentation & Brightening for how these are used in practice.
| Device | What it does | Treatment time | Downtime | Suited for | Often combined with |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BBL HEROic | Broadband light that targets pigment and vascular structures to improve pigmentation, redness and overall skin quality. | 20–40 min | None to minimal | Sun damage, pigmentation, redness, uneven skin tone | RevLite, Potenza, CureJet |
| RevLite | Q-switched Nd:YAG laser (1064 / 532 nm) for benign pigmented lesions, including melasma, and tattoo removal. | 20–40 min | Minimal | Melasma, freckles, age spots, tattoo removal | BBL HEROic, Potenza |
Skin remodeling and collagen stimulation
Treatments that work in the dermis to improve texture, scarring and pores, together with the clinic's non-thermal skin regeneration device.
| Device | What it does | Treatment time | Downtime | Suited for | Often combined with |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Potenza | RF microneedling that delivers radiofrequency energy into the dermis through ultrafine insulated needles. | 45–60 min | 2–5 days | Acne scars, enlarged pores, wrinkles, skin texture | CureJet, BBL HEROic, Rejuran |
| CureJet | Needle-free jet injector that delivers solutions into the skin without a needle. | 30–45 min | Minimal | Needle-free delivery, skin boosters, hydrating injectables, needle-sensitive patients | Potenza, Rejuran, skin boosters |
| Fractional CO2 laser | Ablative fractional CO2 laser that resurfaces the skin in microscopic treatment zones. | 30–60 min | 5–7 days | Acne scars, surgical scars, wrinkles, skin resurfacing | Potenza, PRP, Rejuran |
| Corage 2.0 | Quantum molecular resonance (QMR) device that delivers non-thermal resonance energy to the skin. | 20–30 min | None to minimal | Skin texture, skin conditioning, non-thermal treatment, sensitive skin | CureJet, Potenza, skin boosters |
Devices at the clinic

Monopolar radiofrequency for periorbital wrinkles, including the upper and lower eyelids.

SofWave
Synchronous ultrasound parallel beam technology for the brow, submental area and neck.

ONDA Coolwave
Coolwaves microwave technology that selectively heats subcutaneous fat for fat reduction and skin tightening.

BBL HEROic
Broadband light for pigmentation, redness and overall skin quality.

RevLite
Q-switched Nd:YAG laser (1064 / 532 nm) for benign pigmented lesions, melasma and tattoo removal.

Potenza
RF microneedling that delivers radiofrequency energy into the dermis through ultrafine insulated needles.

CureJet
Needle-free jet injector that delivers solutions into the skin without a needle.

Fractional CO2 laser
Ablative fractional CO2 laser that resurfaces the skin in microscopic treatment zones.

Corage 2.0
Quantum molecular resonance device that delivers non-thermal resonance energy to the skin.
How we choose a device for you
Every patient's skin ages differently, so the device is chosen after the examination, not before.
- POINT 1
Start with the consultation
Instead of recommending the same treatment to everyone, we select the technology that fits your skin condition, facial anatomy, age and treatment goals. That decision is made in person, after examining the skin and the structure beneath it.
- POINT 2
Combine where it helps
In many cases, combining technologies gives a better result than relying on a single treatment. Lifting energy and pigment correction, for example, address different layers and can be planned together. See Skin Tightening & Lifting and Pigmentation & Brightening for how this works in practice.
- POINT 3
Keep downtime in proportion
Most of the devices above involve none to minimal downtime. Where a treatment needs a few days of recovery, such as Potenza (2–5 days) or the fractional CO2 laser (5–7 days), that is discussed beforehand and scheduled around your calendar.
- POINT 4
Know when a device is not the answer
Some concerns are better served by a small surgical procedure, and some are better left alone. Part of the consultation is saying so.
Frequently asked questions
- Q1
Which device is right for me?
That is decided at consultation, after examining your skin and the structure beneath it. The tables above describe what each device does; which one suits you depends on your skin condition, anatomy, age and goals.
- Q2
Can treatments be combined?
Yes, and often they are. The column headed Often combined with shows the pairings used most. Combining technologies can address different layers of the skin in one plan, in many cases with a better result than a single treatment.
- Q3
How much downtime should I expect?
For most of the lifting and pigment devices, none to minimal. RF microneedling with Potenza usually involves 2–5 days, and fractional CO2 resurfacing 5–7 days.
- Q4
How long does a session take?
Between about 20 and 90 minutes, depending on the device and the area treated. Ultherapy PRIME and Thermage FLX sit at the longer end at 60–90 minutes; ONDA Coolwave, BBL HEROic, RevLite and Corage 2.0 start from 20 minutes.
- Q5
Are these devices FDA-cleared?
Ultherapy PRIME, Thermage FLX and SofWave are FDA-cleared for the indications listed above. The clinic selects technologies with clinical evidence behind them and uses each for the concerns it is designed to treat.
