Lower Blepharoplasty

클래식하안검성형술

Bulging fat, deepening shadows and skin that has lost its tone. Lower blepharoplasty addresses the structure beneath the lower lid so the eye looks smooth, clear and rested.

Lower eyelid surgery: where aging begins

Aging often begins under the eyes. Orbital fat that once sat flat starts to bulge forward, a groove forms beneath it, and the skin loses its tone.

Fat that protrudes too far makes a face look older than it is and deepens dark circles, because the bulge casts a shadow into the hollow below it.

Lower blepharoplasty addresses the tear trough and the dark circles together with the bulge. It finishes the eye rather than treating a single symptom.

Three changes beneath the eye

Three changes account for most under-eye complaints: fat that bulges, shadow that deepens in the groove between lid and cheek, and skin that loosens and creases.

They rarely occur alone, and they respond to different measures. Fat is repositioned or reduced, the hollow is supported, and loose skin is tightened by the amount its elasticity allows.

A plan that addresses only one of the three tends to disappoint. The clinic's assessment considers all of them.

Under-eye concerns, resolved with careful design

The clinic's classic lower blepharoplasty is not simple fat removal. It is an eyelid operation that restores the structures weakened by aging, guided by the anatomy of the under-eye area.

The aim is a natural, animated eye: a lower lid that meets the cheek in one smooth line, with no bulge, no hollow and no visible sign of surgery.

For patients whose main issue is fat and hollowing rather than loose skin, the clinic also offers dual under-eye fat repositioning through an incision inside the lid. The consultation determines which approach suits you.

Who this procedure is for

  • 01

    A sunken under-eye

The area beneath the eye is hollow and looks short of volume.

  • 02

Bulging fat and a heavy look

Protruding fat makes the under-eye puffy and the expression dull or heavy.

  • 03

Dark circles that makeup cannot hide

The shadow under the eye is deep and remains visible even under concealer.

  • 04

    Loose, sagging skin

The under-eye skin has lost its elasticity and gives the lid a sagging appearance.

    Designed for natural change

From the placement of the incision and the direction of the sutures to the way tissue is repositioned, an unforced, natural look is the first priority.

    Function and appearance together

Rather than simply making you look younger, the aging of under-eye muscle, fat and skin is analyzed as one structure, and both function and appearance are improved.

Tailored to your pattern of aging

Skin elasticity, fat protrusion and under-eye lines differ from person to person. The surgery is designed around your own findings, not a standard procedure.

Consultation, procedure and recovery: what to expect

At consultation, your doctor examines the amount and position of the orbital fat, the depth of the tear trough, the elasticity of the skin and the support the lower lid and midface provide.

The plan follows from those findings: how the fat will be handled, whether volume needs restoring, and how much skin, if any, can safely be removed. Restraint matters here, because the lower lid tolerates over-correction poorly.

In the classic approach the incision is placed just beneath the lower lashes, in a natural line of the skin. Through it the fat is repositioned or reduced, weakened support is restored and excess skin removed conservatively. Swelling and bruising subside over the following weeks, the incision line fades for months, and results vary from person to person.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Q1

Is the fat removed or repositioned?

Wherever possible it is repositioned. Fat moved into the hollow supports the lid and softens the tear trough, whereas fat that is simply removed can leave the area sunken as the years pass.

  2. Q2

Will it fix my dark circles?

Dark circles caused by the shadow of a bulge over a hollow improve when that contour is corrected. Darkness from pigment in the skin is a separate matter, addressed with pigmentation treatments.

  3. Q3

Will there be a visible scar?

The incision is placed just below the lower lashes, in a natural line of the skin, and closed with fine sutures. It is designed to be difficult to see once healed and continues to fade over the following months.

  4. Q4

How does this differ from under-eye fat repositioning?

Under-eye fat repositioning works through an incision inside the lid and does not remove skin, which suits patients with good skin tone. Classic lower blepharoplasty adds the ability to tighten loose skin; the right choice depends on the elasticity of your skin.

  5. Q5

Will the shape of my eye change?

The aim is to keep the shape of your eye and the position of the lower lid unchanged, with a smoother contour beneath it. Skin is removed conservatively for exactly that reason.
